Killing the Good Samaritan

As many people have complained to me about lumping Christians '(in the real sense of the term) and the psycho-paths that use the name 'Christian' to refer to themselves, I would like say that they're (mostly) right. Jesus would be sickened if he say what 'his' followers were doing today. (However, I do maintain that the tales of celebrated rape and murde in the Bible don't help the real Christians' case.)
So, on killing the good Samaritan. A long time ago, in a land far away, a liberal, or perhaps a communist terrorist, but either way a crazy madman was talking to his radical followers.
One asked what he needed to recieve eternal life. He was told by the madman that he must, among other things, 'love your neighbor as yourself.'
The confused acolyte asked what this meant.
The madman told a demented tale about a guy, a Samaritan immigrant, who, as all those that hailed from Samaria at that point in time, was an outcast in this land.
Another man was walking down the road, got jumped, robbed, and nearly killed. A priest walked by him, and didn't want to bother in the affairs of 'those people,' and crossed the road to avoid him. An upper-class religious leader approached, and did the same. But this outcast came upon the beaten man. He bandaged him, took him to an inn, and paid for his stay until he got better.
The madman pointed out that it was the Samaritan that was the nieghbor, thus would inherit eternal life. By default, the Levite and the priest go to Hell.
Now much later, in a land commonly called America, the State is now making it a felony to aid people coming from other lands to seek a better life. People have actually been jailed for leaving water in the desert, becuase it might save the life of a foreigner without documentation. Providing medical aid, giving food, or any of the most basic humantarian tasks is now illegal. Many leave water because they feel religiously compelled to do so. We need more of them, and less of those Christian Fascists that would rather watch people die than help them- Jesus said (by default) that they will go to Hell. It will be those risking their freedom following the words of Jesus that spend eternity with him. The rest, I believe, are spoken of in Jeremiah 48:10, where Christians (and Jews) are called to shed the blood of those who have usurped the name of the LORD. (I think we, lik Bush, should ask God what he wants us to do to the Minutemen.)
So anywho, if you follow the laws of the Bush Regime, you will NOT recieve eternal life.
The [Just a sidenote- Michael Moore did an episode of 'the Awful Truth,' in which someone laid down on the side walk, playing dead, to see whether people from England, the US, or Canada would be the Good Samaritan first. They thought the UK won, but it turned out it was an immigrant. Then Canada eventually won, while scores of suits and skirts walked past the 'dead' man on a busy street in New York. Maybe it's cuz we have more evangelicals.]

Money vs. God: Pat Robertson's duel

It's been all over the news recently. Pat Robertson, perhaps the most well known and by far the nuttiest evangelist, said that the stroke that Ariel Sharon suffered was God's wrath upon him, citing some obscure Old Testament verse about giving up the land of Israel. Robertson blames the health problems on Sharon's decision to withdraw settlers from the Gaza Strip, which is perhaps the only not-evil thing Sharon has done in his entire life. After Robertson's stupid remark, the Israelis struck back. The Israelis cut off the plan for Robertson's capitalist venture in Israel, then Pat Robertson and God apparently changed their minds.
The capitalist press thoroughly covered this, as they always cover whenever Pat says anything so stupid that it gets the worlds attention, but they did not explain the reason WHY God and Pat changed their minds. Simple: money.
When the Israelis cut off a venture that would make Pat Robertson millions of dollars, God changed his mind. Who is more important, God or Money? Pat Robertson has made up his mind. And if you look around, so has the rest of Christian America. If he felt so strongly that God told him this, as he believes everything else he thinks comes fro God, how could he change his mind. Did he decide that the Bible verse about giving up the Gaza stripo was misapplied? Was he wrong even? When you touch a rich Christian's money, they will admit many faults.
God is only the excuse; Money, profit is the reason.
I like Jesus. I really do. I agree with most of what he said even. So, in closing, I would like to quote him, directed at Mr. Robertson of course, "You have turned my father's house into a den of thieves."

Bob Avakian on Pat Robertson's absurd 'kill 'em all' death penalty views

So I didn;t write this one, but it's written by some guy who it turns out writes quite a bit of stuff, and is quite influential in the struggle against theocracy amoung many other things. It's along the same lines as what I write, so I feel it is quite appropriate to post it here.

Pat Robertson leaves the opening to include not only those convicted of things like first-degree murder, but many others as well, in a very broad and "elastic" category of people who should be executed because, in the judgment of reactionary theocrats like Robertson, they somehow "defiled the land" through "unseemly acts" that turned god against his favored nation or "destroyed the fabric of society." And it is necessary to place this in the context of American society today, in which, through conscious government policy as well as the "normal operation" of the laws of capitalist accumulation and competition, whole sections of people are being consigned to the ranks of "unemployables," people for whom the only viable alternative within this system may be participation in the underground economy. With this in mind, we cannot avoid recognizing that the logic of Robertson's call for applying "the biblical model" for crime and punishment involves an unmistakable suggestion of a "final solution" against the masses of people in the inner cities as well as preparation for the use of extreme repression, and even execution, to punish a broad array of activities which today are treated as minor offenses or as no crime at all.
Here, too, the question must be posed: however much things might be framed in terms of "crime" and "criminals," given the reality that it is increasingly Black people, along with Latinos, who make up the prison population in the U.S., and given the whole reality of white supremacy and all the atrocities that have accompanied it throughout the history of the U.S., is it possible to believe that policies of mass extermination--through state-sponsored execution and/or in other forms--would be limited to those sections of Black people, and other peoples of color, who have actually committed what today are regarded as serious crimes? It is relevant to reflect on the implications of the statement by a speaker at a "conservative conference" in 1997 who, as Andrew Sullivan reports, not only denounced abortion and birth control but also "bemoaned that nonprocreative trends among white Europeans was leading to `race death.' " This blatant white supremacy--and the view that white women are breeders for the "white race"--is consistent with the logic of race war openly preached by Christian paramilitary forces and Nazi skinheads. And (to borrow Richard Pryor's phrasing) "the logical conclusion of the logic" of race war is genocide. In thinking about all this, it is worth keeping in mind that the "legitimate"--and prominent--fascists in America today include not only theocrats like Pat Robertson but also old-line, unreconstructed and unrepentant southern white supremacists, such as Jesse Helms.

Christian pro-terrorism group staulks doctor, adds to hit list

Much information that we see contains subtle messages that are intended to be read in different ways by different groups. Many such things exist on the pro-terrorism group "Operation Rescues'" website.
An article entitled 'Prayer Walk At Abortion Worker's Home Turns Violent' was about two Christians engagings in staulking and harrassing a doctor. The act of violence it turns out was the doctor's husband kicking a sign that accused his wife of being a murderer (which you can see when viewing the picture was in the man's lawn, making it a perfectly legal act) and pushing away the camera that a Christian was pointing at him. The site puts up two pictures of the 'rampaging man' who 'assaulted' the Christian Fascists.
An angry neighbor was spoken to about why the staulkers were in her street, which she promptly told them to get off of, god bless her. A photograph of her was shown, with the caption "this angry woman did not understand why striking a peaceful man is wrong." More ironic is that this same group calls for massive executions of people who don't live by fanatical Christian standards.
The message between the lines, for those acquainted with OR, is that these people are now on the hit list. The founder of this group, Randall Terry, repeatedly calls for the murder of his opponents. His group was connected with a group that put out a hit list for women's doctors and their sympathizers, and claimed martyrdom for those who carried out the killings. The 'Nuremburg Files' hit list provided Christians with the knowledge of where to find abortion providers and sympathizers, and a number of them were killed or maimed by fanatical Christians. As this group is the largest and most visible of the pro-terrorism faction of Christians, these pictures are meant for the hands of those who would kill for their hatred.
Conservative? My ass. These people are Nazis.

Randall Terry, human scum

I was looking around at Operation Rescue's website, the site of the group founded by Randall Terry, one of the most overt Christian Fascists today. Randall Terry openly speaks of creating a fascist Christian state, and executing en masse women's doctors and their supporters.
He faced a racketeering lawsuit for his role in promoting murder and harassment on clinics, he agreed to refrain from actions against women's clinics.
Here's a few of my favorite sayings from him:
"Let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good.... If a Christian voted for Clinton, he sinned against God. It's that simple.... Our goal is a Christian Nation... we have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want Pluralism. We want theocracy. I think it is safe to say that the 'pro life' camp is by far the 'pro death' camp, and we should be sure to refer to these people as such. Promoting murder and calling themselves pro life, hypocritical Christians. We shouldn't expect anything different from Them.
It was ironic that Randall Terry was the leading figure in the Terri Schiavo case, where the Christians attempted a sort of coup de etat, maneuvering in congress to impose Chistianic law, complete with middle of the night session in the House.
Of course the OR praises Bush for annointing Myers and Alito, claiming that this means "Roe v. Wade, you days are numbered." They may be right.
One of the links on the site was to "christiangallery.com." Terry's website advertises this as "the best known most visited Christian website on earth. (Including Nuremburg files)" After looking at the website, I concluded that if this indeed was the most visited Christian website on earth, it would be time to start collecting forty bottles, rags, siphon gasoline, and make maps of all the churches in my area. But fortunately, true to his nature, he is a straight up fucking liar, and we can spare armed struggle against the Christian Fascists, for now at least. I suggest you check out the site and see for yourself.
But for those of you who don't feel like looking at it,
The site boasts that they were the publishers of the 'Nuremburg Files,' a site with names and addresses, separated into categories of women's doctors, clinic workers, judges, and pro-choice activists. When any of these were murdered, the names were shown with a line through them, if they were wounded in an attempted murder, they were shown in grey.
Another interesting part of the site was an image with Michael Jackson opening his mouth for a small penis.
The top of the site shows a nude picture of Jesus, covered in blood and being attacked by dogs. The accompanying article explains that he is being killed by the same dogs that murdered him 2000 years ago at Golgotha. This is thinly veiled accusation toward the Jews. Only anti-semites even use the term "murder" when talking about Jesus these days, the rest understanding that Jesus came to earth to die and be resurrected. The article encourages Christian men to "take up arms" to defend the body of Christ, since Jesus is less powerful than some Christians with guns. There's a few other underlying anti-semitic tones in there, most only to be caught by anti-semites, such as "USAsrael," referring to the conspiracy theory that the Jews control the US and most other world governments, and are working to form a one-world government, led by the antichrist. People like Falwell and Robertson play into this, claiming that the antichrist must be a Jew.
My favorite was the picture of an man with outstreched arms, one arm grasping a rifle and the other a Bible, standing over a corpse, shouting "God's Law Will Be Established!" over the face of Paul Hill, the Christian who murdered a doctor and his bodyguard. Killing for Jesus. The article below exalted him as a hero, and indirectly tells their followers to go and do likewise. If they do, there is an apt Biblical principle: an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life. If more doctors are murdered, then the Christian demogogues that inspired them should be held accountable
Why does Operation Rescue promote this site? Because they are pro-death Christian Fascists, that is why.
Until we understand that anyone who claims pro life and promotes killing is our mortal enemy, that these people are taking control of the government more and more every day, that they are now in the process of creating legal means to carry out their evil deeds, that one day we will have to fight fire with fire, we are not safe, our rights are not safe. If Terry, or people like Terry are ever running the country the way they want, I cannot say for sure what will happen, but it won't be the abortion clinics getting bombed.

Pat Robertson's at it again...

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club."
Pat Robertson is one of those people who still believe that extremely natural and explainable phenomenon are the work of these things that we cannot see (unless they really like us, need to tell us something, take mushrooms, or wander in the desert for a while.) This has been a common belief throughout history, in almost all human societies. These were attributed to some sort of spirit usually. This type of belief is part of what is commonly called Paganism. Enter Monotheism. Now there is only two of these spirits; one, the good guy, for convenience sake we'll call "God," and the bad guy "Satan," or "devil" interchangeably. Now is it not only easier to pinpoint to cause of every single action, but it is also easier to have one spokesman for this God. Everything happens as a result of this God, so if something bad happens, then it is the result of God's wrath, which the spokesman will tell us about, or mischief of Satan, and the spokesman will know that it is because we are not close enough to God.
Back to Pat. He's a guy that regularly tells people who suffer from natural disasters that it is because God was unhappy with the way the people lived in the city, where Satan lurked around every corner (I forgot to mention, these guys can be almost EVERYWHERE at the same time, they're amazing.) For example the Bible tells a story of a city where there was only one good guy left, Lot, so he destroyed the city. The good guy threw his daughter into a street to be gang-raped by a mob, and the rest of the city was gay, so you can see why God saved Lot and killed the rest.
Robertson attributes almost all disasters that kill a lot of people to the wrath of God. Ironically, Osama bin Laden and Pat Robertson made the same comments about the tsunami in South Asia. Not that they hold similar beliefs or anything. Pat even claims to have prayed away hurricanes from cities. Of course he blamed the people living in the ghettos of New Orleans for the deadly predicament, while the suburbanites obviously were not sinners, at least not enought to die for it. So it IS true that God eats at the table of the rich.
So now that Dover has removed from office the all school board members that wanted to teach thinly veiled creationism instead of science, the Christian citizens of the town should leave, because they know God will strike. (I wish that happened where I live- all the Christian Fascists exiting the city en masse... someday) Actually, I live in an area where we don't really have natural disasters, so they would have to be really stupid to flee, but I wouldn't put it past them.
Well, here is one person on behalf of science and furthering the condition of humanity expressing my gratitude to the voters of Dover for 'voting God out' or 'voting science to stay,' whichever you call it.
There still is hope, but school boards and the government are different. We should make our stand wherever it finds us, through whatever method need be.

God is in New Orleans

So much I could say, but you have probably already heard...
You can see now how 'pro-life' the pro-life camp is.
You have seen how they sit by and watch as the poor are drowned in a hurricane, and then send in the army not to save them, but to shoot the ones who 'steal' from abandoned grocery stores.
Now they have the same 'contractors' who run death squads in Fallujah making billions off the misery of the Iraqi people doing the same in 'our' country. They 'security contractors' have been given shoot-to-kill orders and immunity for when they use it. Bechtel and Halliburton, well known for both their powerful positions in the US government and their overt corruption (about 15% of our tax money given to them is under investigation for fraud.)
You have seen the Christian run government, local, state, and fed, not only sit back and watch people die, not only prevent people from coming from across the country to help, but actually take action to kill survivors who brought food from flooded stores to starving people.
How much more pro-death could they get?
Well, now to opiate them, they are bringing overtly Christian-fascist Pat Robertson to New Orleans to tell them that it is their own fault. The Christians now chuckle that God finally cleaned up the slums.
Ask yourself, are these Christians that run the government pro-life or pro-death?
How much farther will they go?

Good news and bad news

A vaccine for the STD HPV, which causes cervical cancer and death in thousands of women every year in the US alone, has been successfully tested by two pharmaceutical groups. This could save hundreds of thousands of lives.
As usual, the pro-life camp is overtly pro-death in this case. The Christian Righists believe that it should not be marketted, because women could have sex with less risk.
They would rather continue watching people die than cure the sick. How compassionate.
Just as the pro-lifers pass laws calling for the executiong of the retarded, while they (Bush actually) pass laws enabling an insurance company to pull the plug on life support if the family is poor, while they pray that the Crusaders in Iraq shoot straight (140,000 civilians,) they continue to maintain that they are producing a culture of life.
They prefer to watch them die than cure the disease.

Some lies the Christian told you: Schiavo autopsy

The Christians said that Terri Schiavo was NOT in a persistent vegetative state.
Autopsy revealed that she was in fact, in a persistant vegetative state.
Bill Frist claimed before the US Congress that her condition was NOT persistent vegetative state, a 'diagnosis' by a Christian with medical credentials, repeated endlessly by the media in the debates on the issue. He based this on a home video. So scientific of him.
Bill Frist now claims that he never diagnosed her.
The Christians claimed she was responding to and recognizing friends.
The autopsy revealed that the part of her brain faciliatating vision was gone; she could not possibly have seen them.
Their whole premise for keeping the vegetative state continuing has been destroyed. Everything that they said before regarding has beed disproved by the Christian's age-old enemy: science.
Now they are trying to claim that he waited to call 911, in essence, that he wanted her dead. The family claims now that he was abusive and broke her bones in doing so. There is no evidence.
Are we supposed to believe these proven liars AGAIN?

Stupid Christian banana tricks

One of the more outspoken Christian propagandists, Ray Comfort, spends a lot of time writing about what he thinks will convince the sinners of the truth of the Bible and the existence of God. Although not as overtly reactionarry as people like Robertson or Dobson, he is still deceptive to some degree, and well, ignorant on some points.
One time I came across one of those little eight or so page comic book style Christian tract, which claimed to have evidence that thinds were created. I don't know if it was authored by Comfort, but I came across one of the same points that caught my eye then in his book "God Doesn't Believe in Atheists," (yes it is absurd as it sounds.) The booklet, as well as the book, both have the banana as the proof of God. Odd? It is a complete gutting of science, made to amaze people that bananas are a certain way, and negate the 'history of the banana.' Let me explain.
The chapter "Banana in Hand" starts off ny telling a story of a Coca Cola bottle forming from mere coincidence. It's obvious that humans make them, so obviously someone must make bananas, right?
"Exibit A"
"If you have found a well-made banana, you will notice that the far side has three ridges, and the inside has only two ridges (because we are in "fallen Creation, some bananas have only two ridges on the far side.")
"Notice how well the banana fits in the human hand... Notice how the banana is the perfect size and shape for the human mouth, with a point at the top for ease of entry."
These show how ignorant of an understanding he has about biology and botany. I am no botanist, but as someone who has cultivated banana trees, I feel that I can dispel some of his myths and misconceptions about the banana.
I cannot resist responding to the statement that bananas have three ridges on the far side based on 'intelligent' design, but sometimes two because the world is not perfect. Ray Comfort is a dim witted buffoon if he thinks that the explanation for sometimes two is 'sin.'
Bananas are very prone to genetic mutations. Outside interaction after a mutation is a sort of catalyst for 'artificial evolution.' The pecan is the most solid example.
Wild pecans are poisonous, but we can get edible ones in any store. This has a very scientific explanation, not one of 'sin made the wild ones poisonous' that Mr. Comfort may offer.
All species of plants experience genetic mutation to some degree. This contributes to natural selction to some degree. (No Christian, this is fact, and we see it today.) When the pecans had the mutation that caused them to drop the poison, some birds ate them. When they all noticed that these trees, which would have no doubt multiplied, did not kill their kind anymore, they would become a normal food source, and then spread out by the birds after eating them. Humans would note this, and eat those that that birds ate, but averted the ones averted by the birds. These would have been much less in number, but soon spread far and wide by both birds and humans. Eventually, there would be more edible pecan trees than poisonous ones. Hence we have both toxic and non-toxic pecans. The science-minded person would point to the biology of the plant. The Christian stares is awe, denying science, and claims the existence of the two kinds proves God.
Back to the bananas. The number of ridges comes from the evolution (through genetic mutation) of the bananas. A tree may have either, because ancestors of that particular plant may have had that mutation. The Christian looks at it and thinks about 'fallen Creation.' One with scientific understanding knows the science behind it. "You can't fool all of the people all of the time," and that goes for you too, Christian.
When I was working with bananas, I noticed the great variety of shapes sizes, and colors that the bananas came in. The perfect size that fits in the human hand that Mr. Comfort speaks about is quite non-existent in most banana fields. Due to the selection of only bananas that are large for marketing in countries that import them from the Third World, the banana fields that they come from are all of large bananas. These are ones that have undergone genetic mutation, and are bred with others that have undergone genetic mutation, so they come out large. The Christian that buys his Dole bananas from the supermarket only gets the large, 'perfect' bananas, and sees the 'proof' that Comfort speaks about. He does not see the bananas that are smaller than the human hand, the ones that are straight, or so curved that they do not fit perfectly in the hand. He has a limited view, and thus comes to a narrow, abstract, pre-determined conclusion based on seeing partial evidence,
The variation that the bananas come in, and the selection of some for cultivation, and the differences developing between the types proves that microevolution is true, but does nothing for 'intelligent design' theory. The Christian must rely on ignorance regarding the matter to convince people that they are right.

Babel and Biblical mistakes

One section of Mark Hitchcock's (a friend of Left Behind author Tim Lahaye) book "the Second Coming of Babylon" is written to show how Iraq is the area which will become the economic, cultural, religious, and political center of the world within the next few years.
Hitchcock writes this to show that Babylon is the heart of rebellion against god, where the first massive rebellion ( the tower of Babel) against god took place, and where the final rebellion (the Antichrist) will occur.
He cites the tower of Babel as the source of this. However, he appears to be using a word association trick to con stupid Christians into believing yet another Christian propaganda trick. For Babel is not Babylon. Where Babel was, they do not know for sure, . There are no records of Babel out side of the Bible. According to the Biblical account, the Babelites got confused when Gods (yes, God is used in plural) got scared that the humans would become like them if they reached the sky, so Gods changed their languages. Which would leave what to found one of the greatest (although brutal) civilizations in history? No one. Babel is not Babylon. It simply happened to be in the land of Shinar, a region where Babylon was thousands of years later. When Hitchcock cites Gen. 10:8-12 as evidence of the founding of Babylon, he is really speaking of the abandonned city of Babel. Here he is just being deceitful.
Hitchcock claims that at that time, when Nimrod (also the founder of Babel) ruled Babel, all the earth spoke the same language, and was all gathered under the rule of Nimrod. He parallels Nimrod to the Antichrist, as a world dictator and rebel against God. He obviously missed the verses before Genesis 11 that back him up.
Genesis 10 is the story of the sons of Noah, and how they divided and spread out through the region, founding cities such as Nineveh, Sodom, and Gomorrah. 3 times it is mentioned in the chapter that one of the lines they divided on was what language they spoke.
So let's assume that what Moses wrote here is true. That the sons of Noah had divided up across the earth, speaking many languages, being of different peoples, and founding a number of cities throughout the world. So then we can't really believe that Genesis 11 is true. (Don't worry Christian, you can just ignore Genesis 11, all Christians do.)
Genesis 11 says that all the earths people were in one place, and all spoke the same language. Can it be true that they were spread out throughout the world, and spoke many languages, and at the same time were at the same place and spoke the same language? God must have made a mistake in writing the Bible. Or maybe he didn't write it at all.
So these people that were gathered there, (Nimrod is not mentioned here, but is mentioned that he founded Babel and several other cities in Genesis 10) decided to band together to build a tower so high that it would reach the heavens.
Apparently Gods felt threatened by this, and conferred with ?? that they must disrupt the building of the tower. He told his cohort gods that because man was united as one, they would be able to accomplish anything they set out to do (hey, I think God may have had a point.) So Gods went down and disrupted the tongues of the people and spread them throughout the earth.
This brings up several points. One, that God was so insecure that he felt that he must create disunity within humanity to prevent them from accomplishing great feats for humanity. (This explains why Christians are so opposed to progress as well.) How is it that God was scared by humans? Is he not all powerful? Did he not smite thousands at Sodom and Gommorah? Did he not have the power to prevent human from touching heaven? Apparently not.
This shows the human knowledge of the time coming out. The people at the time thought that God was in the sky (where else would he be?) and that by going up there they could touch him, and even become like him. They did not know how useless building a really tall building would be, as far as God is concerned.
Thirdly, it leaves no founders of Babylon in the area. The people that founded Babylon were not those same that were present, because the Bible says the were scattered throughout the earth for trying to build a tower. What is the connection that Hitchcock makes? A word connection. It was also where recorded history began, hence the recorded history of people now following the Hebrew god, as most did not.
It exposes the prophecy 'expert' Mark Hitchcock to be misleading his followers to make it appear that his ideas of the immenent Second Coming are Bible-based, and give him credibility for his pseudo-knowledge.
An last, and probably least, it shows that the guy who wrote this (supposedly being inspired by God) could not even get his basic timeline straight. Were people spread out, or in the same place? Did people speak many languages, or all one?
And my favorite, is where Gods says that when the human race becomes one, and we all communicate at each other, we will be able to do anything that we set our sites on. This much surely is true. And God is scared of this.

This religious prejudice would inhibit them from interpreting the way the laws should work on the basis of legality, and replace the source of law in the Promised Land with a unhealthy dose of the Good Book.

The Bible condones rape

Deuteronomy 21:10-14 explains how female captives are to be raped. It's not that we can just go up and rape them, there are rules to raping them.
Deuteronomy 22:23-24 In a particularly sick verse, God tells us that if a betrothed girl gets raped in a city, and does not cry out loud enough to be heard (as far as I know, it's customary to cover or tie the mouth during rape to prevent this) they must both be killed. Kill the rape victim? Is this the God of love? What kind of sick fuck is this guy 'God?'
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 In this one, God allows us men to marry any girl we want, even against her will, (and we must have money) simply by raping her. The downside is that we must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. So any girl is now a prostitute and sex slave for life. Once again, how twisted can God be?
Deuteronomy 20:10-14 Gives the outline for making war, or "loving your enemies" in modern Christianese. If they do not submit to becoming slaves, then you kill all the men and take the rest for 'plunder.' (See rules on raping a captive.)
Numbers 31 tells us the happy story of Moses being angry at his men for sparing the women of the Mideonites after slaughtering all the men. He orders them to go back and kill all non-virgin women and keep the virgins for themselves. And this is the religion that is what makes America great? When I look at what the US did in Viet Nam, and what they are doing to Iraq, I am not surprised.
In 2 Samuel 12:11-14, Jesus punishes David by telling him his wives will be raped in public for his sins. When he repents, God says he will spare his life, but his child must die. There it is! GOD KILLS BABIES!! YOU "PRO-LIFE" ASSHOLES NEED TO READ YOUR FUCKING BIBLE!! Stop telling women that they have no control over their own lives if your own god indulges in killing small children.
Judges 21:10-24 tells the tale of the Israelites being distraught that they didn't have enough wives. They pillaged a tribe, but there were not enough rape victims for them. They tries to get the tribe of Benjamin to give them some girls, but they had made a vow not to. So they decided to ambush them on the road, and since they did not give them willingly, they would still keep their vow. What would you consider it if you were taken away and forced to be the 'wife' of some guy that jumps you on the road? Well, the Bible calls it legit, so unless you hate God, you should be ready to submit to the rapist. And try to get him to pay your dad.
Zechariah 14:1-2 tells of when God will gather the armies of the area against Jerusalem, and they will amoung many other awful things, 'ravish' the women.
In Genesis 7:8, some angels visit Lot. A mob of men gather outside the house and want the angels. So Lot does what any righteous man would do: he offers his daughter to be gang-raped by the mob. For his faith, God destroys the whole city and spares Lot. Christians today uphold Lot as an example for being the one righteous man in the city of Sodom. They draw parallels between good Christians and the man that gave his daughter to be raped.
The Bible's view on rape makes me sick. Should a book promoting rape be taught in schools? Should we be forced to pray to a deity that turns rape into a business affair? You would be sick to think so.

I remember in the news a while back the Christians were so enthusiastic about the burial box that had "James brother of Jesus" inscribed in the side. They now had proof positive that Christianity was real. Alas, it has been proven false.

The Shroud of Turin is also flown from the heights as proof of Jesus. I don't see where they get the idea that a cloth with the facial imprint of some guy with a beard is the Son of God. However, they were living in the Dark Ages, and it is understandable that they believed it out of ignorance. But today, the idea of it is just ludicrous. And it has also been proven to be a fake. The Christians use the same tactic to disprove its disproving as the do against evolution: they take a mistake in the scientific study and portray it as the basis of the theory. For example, there was a case where a pre-human skeleton was constructed out of a tooth, which was found to be that of a pig, so therefore, evolution is bullshit. On the Shroud of Turin, they take the carbon dating test of a patch sewn on after fire damage and therefore show that ALL the carbon dating on it is false, because it came from a patch. Of course, we cannot forget the 'irrefutable' proof of the Dead Sea Scrolls. These too were used as cold, hard evidence of the truth of the Gospels. The Christians still claim that the validity of the Bible is shown in these documents. After they have been proven to be mostly forged, and only some of them date back to the time of early Christianity, sections that are completely irrelevant to what they are used for today, the Christians will not admit their error because they have so much riding on it. They were (the real parts of it) written by an obscure sect that has nothing to do with the Old Church or the modern one, but the Christians don't really promore what is in them, just that they were found. The Apocalypse mindset and it's consequences

When I was growing up, my panicking mother would refuse to get Safeway cards because they were the beginning of the Mark of the Beast. I was shown videos of the End Times, which portrayed a one-world government that brought peace, and massive persecution of Christians. I was constantly told that the End of Days would occur during my lifetime. During all of their history, there has never been a time that Christians did not believe that they would be that last generation. For when Jesus was around, he told his desciples that the Second Coming would occur during the lifetimes of those he was talking to (Matthew 16:18.) He didn't, but the 'Apocalypse Now' mentality of the Christians kept on.
Nowadays, the Christians keep saying that the world is about to end. One could ask 'What harm does it do that they have these crazy ideas?' More than may be obvious.
First of all, the idea that the End is Near takes away any conscious of what the Christians do to the Earth. They believe that since the End is Near, there is no need to preserve the Earth, because we are the last generation. This idea has been around for awhile, and was quite prevelant in the 80's. Hal Lindsey's 'the Terminal Generation' suggests that the 8o's generation is in fact the last one. His book "The Late Great Planet Earth" which sold 20 million copies is a bloody tale similar to that of the Left Behind series on the desruction of the Earth. One of Reagan's advisors (the name escapes me right now) wrote in one of his books that we should completely use up the Earthes resources because the world is soon to end.
With massive technology, destroying the environment is now easier and more effective than ever. Destroying natural resources not only makes the powers that be even richer, but can create great strife between nations vying for them. An example of this is the war between Iraq and Iran, which was started over the claim of both nations to a strip of coast. The US then funded directly the Iraqi regime, aiding it's WMD programs, and supplied Iran indirectly through Israel. The Christians then shouted from the rooftops this evidence of the endtimes. It was all done by the US and Reagan's fundamentalists for Christ's sake! (figuratively speaking.)

Secondly, war becomes a sign that the Christians are right; and so they start wars. The creation of the State of Israel was created through violence, and supported by fundamentalists. This was to complete part of Revelations regarding the nation of Israel.
So once they had that part fulfilled, they began to move to destabalize the region, and cause strife and wars. The fundamentalists in the US government have supported ruthless dictators, terrorist groups, and even financed governments fighting against each other. Why? They see war in the Middle East as a sign that they are right. My mother once told me that she thought Bill Clinton was the Antichrist because he said he wanted peace between the Palestinians and the Israeli State.
The US has done what it can to increase and worsen wars in the Middle East, and even start them if need be. Just turn on the news. Christians are behind every war. All the Christian groups somehow are supporting the wars, despite Jesus's command to love our enemies, turn the other cheek, and pray for them that spitefully use us.
The Christians from the late 80's until recently claimed that the rise of Babylon will precede Armageddon. They said that because Hussein was rebuilding the ruins of Babylon, and wished to become a prominent leader of the Arab nations, this was the beginning of the fulfilling of the prphecy that Babylon would become the economic center of the world. However, this was not able to become the finacial center of the world, or even of Iraq.
The Christians in the government decided to invade Iraq for geopolitical reasons, at least that is what it seems. This could be part of some plan to accelerate Armageddon by fulfilling the "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the Great!" However at this point I am not sure whether Bush and his imperialist cronies are more interested in making it look like the End Times are here or making money for themselves.
All the wars and terrorist campaigns wages by Israel, which frequently are little more than ethnic cleansing under the guise of 'security operations,' are fully supported by the Christian fundy controlled government. Every resolution against them in the UN is vetoes by the US. Why would the US support such actions, when it is quite obvious to anyone with more than half a brain that these are the main cause of the terrorist attacks on Israel and the US? Because the Christians believe that there will be a truce with Israel for seven years, made by the Antichrist (or the first beast to rise from the sea, if you go by the Bible) and then broken 3 1/2 years later. Israel will be defeated for the first time. This person was formerly thought to be Saddam Hussein, but Antichrist's never do a very good job from a jail cell. Since the fall of Saddam, the Us has been more interested in making phony peace accords, because they know a great leader from the MidEast is not present right now. But they must maintain the State of Israel at all costs. So they help them in every war, even giving them nukes, and according to a scientist that defected from the program, help them with chemical weapons as well. They have an actual interest in fomenting anti-semitic sentiment in the Middle East, because an invasion of Israel would help them show that their prophecy is not all bullshit. They are not merely pointing out conditions, but actively doing all they can to create them.
Are these people that should be in control of the world? Should we be in the hands of people that are overtly doing what they can to bring on the end of the world? I hope not, for the sake of humanity.

Jerry Falwell on Feminism

Im watching some videos I got from a thrift store on Christian Fundamentalism. This one is by Falwell. The first section of the video is why real Christian women are anti-feminist.
The first part is a run down of the talk, and the second my analysis, including what the man leaves out.
He begins by saying neither are superior to the other. But what God wants is people to play certain roles in the family. "The heavenly father is neither sexist nor racist." He claims that if we stop believing that God has a penis Christianity will be destroyed.
He says that Christianity is not about keeping the woman chained to the stove. Apparently the whole feminist agenda is spearheaded by a group of fanatical, mostly lesbian women who have failed at relationships with men, and consequently hate them. He does not explain how that plays into issues such as equal pay for equal work, when studies show that women and blacks recieve 25% less pay than white men. Then he lambasts government restrictions on equalizing pay for women and minorities, "regrdless of competance." When challenged, his logic goes back to white males are just better, thats why they are paid more.
He attacks the phraseology of feminism. The first was 'reproductive freedom.' He says that the term 'reproductive freedom' "is something we respect and think they should practice it every night before they go to bed." He reduces reproductive freedom to the obligation of being a sex toy for their husbands on a nightly basis.
He then lambasts feminist support medical aid for the poor, because they can use it for birth control. Not abortion, mind you, but simple things like condoms. Why? Because to the Christian, a woman is an incubator. Not having children when possible is a sin in itself, and therefore all birth control is the work of the devil. He neglects the economic situation of the poor: they cannot afford to have more children, and reduces the poor to simple enemies of God because of this economic inhibition.
He then expands his attack to minority rights, citing again the competance issue, and since is the center of the issue, feminists are causing problems by supporting equal pay for equal work, and opposing exclusion of women and minorities from higher paying jobs.
He then ponders upon "lesbian and gay rights." He says that homsexuals should have the same rights as all of us, that "they should be first class citizens," despite their lifestlye being wrong. He argues they are our equals. Then he destroys the first statement by saying that they should not be allowed to do things such as be teachers and be allowed to recruit people into their lifestyle, or be involved in the Boy Scouts. Ummm...
"Legistlation to decrease the feminization of poverty" is a term used to 'con the American public into thinking they are ok. And what is this great evil behind this term? Federally funded day care! God forbid! When other people take care of someone else's children because of poverty, that is when the nation is doomed! He is basically just opposed to poor mothers working to help support their family, and especially against single mothers. He would rather see a single parent family starve than eat with the help of someone else caring for their child for part of the day.
Then he admits there are problems with the way wages are set up, the division between the pay of men and women, but this all boils down to 'competence.'
What more could the feminists want from us? 12 weeks paid week from work. Those bitches! First he was opposed to women working because it violates the gender roles, and then he opposes them getting maternity leave. Why? He is opposed to the poor getting by. The rich can afford day care, the poor need this evil leave or the fascistic day care.
And more, the feminists support the UN treaty on the equality of women, and the enforcement of this one world government right here in the Promised Land on evil issues such as 'reproductive freedom.'
Gender balance laws, he says, are institutes to humiliate men. This shows a more important issue. That men have such a privilidged place in society that something as simple as working with women is so unbearable that it is humiliation to work alongside the womenfolk. This shows the male supremacist nature of Christianity a little more clearly.
Women in the military? "Well, those feminists I support being in combat (laughter.) But to think of my daughter being drafted and sent to war, I would oppose that for the same reason I would oppose women in the NFL." Women have now been reduced to dainty little things that must live under the protection of us males. Nevermind the history of women in combat, most notably in places like China and Viet Nam, where women were considered equals to men in all fields.
He then goes through a list of the leaders of this feminist agenda, from the Clintons to the ACLU (American Communist Lawyers Union,) against everything that is good and for everything evil, the National Organization of Women, which admits that 40% of its members are lesbian, so "the truth is probably twice that." He cannot stay with simple facts and must stoop to the level of insults. Then the anecdote of one women speaking that he could put his foot in her mouth without touching her teeth.
When Jerry gets down to what God says about women, its back to the double-speak. He quotes Genesis 1:27 where God (Moses, more correctly) tells us that Man and woman were made in God's image, and we are equal before God, and so on. But, God made Man first...
He upholds the subjugation of women by claiming that there are roles that men and women must play. We are all familiar with what he is talking about. But the evil feminists do not recognize those roles. They destroy the American Family, and America with it, by negating the God-given position of Man over woman.
According to Genesis 2:18, Falwell quotes, woman is a "help meet" for Man. What the hell does that mean? Well, if you are a Christian male, it means that Man was alone and needed something to comfort him, so we got these women things running around humiliating us at work because they do not sit tight in the role of the "help meet."
But women are given important roles by God, such as the responsibility to raise children, and bear them. Thats really important, and even a priviledge, says Jerry. But does not the Bible say that women bear children as a punishment for tricking Man? Mr. Falwell neglects this point.
Apparrently feminism is also a religion. Because it has a creed, like a religion, and has meaning in life (although wrong) and salvation (although in nothing.) They create their own roles for the religion by rejecting the roles that God gave them. And the way they get away with being a religion is because all the feminists embrace evolution, and allows them to reject God.
What he said next didn't really make sense to me. I think he was saying that women are being decieved by Satan in the same way that Eve was tricked by Satan into eating the apple (not in Bible) and being promised equality with Man ((also not in the Bible.) In this way, women are the driving force in the Fall of Man and the Fall of America. But not Christian women. Women that want to be equal with men.
Then Jerry gets into some rather whacky logic. He claims that the courts have stripped women of the prtoection given to us by the Founders. Such as? "Protecting" woment from divroce. Now that men are free to divorce women(which the Bible allows) it has left women and children to be the victims of broken homes. This point is used by the Christians to convince women that all divorce is evil, and oppose it in all ways. The Bible gives men the right to 'send the wife away,' but the same right is not allowen to the women. The goal is to get the masses to oppose divorce, or enact Biblical laws to divorce, for the purpose of taking that right from women. "And this has left us with a generation of latchkey kids, who come home to an empty house with no parents because of the feminist agenda." ( This brought back memories of my childhood, when up until I left my mother's house at fourteen, I was not allowed to have a key becuase my mother would not allow me to be a latchkey kid. For the first time I understood where the basis of this irrational behaviour came from.)
A while back Falwell and some other fellows from the Christian Fascist Right got together for a council on Manhood and womanhood. This was to sort out confusion on the roles of us.
They came to the conclusion that men and women are equal before God, but that we are still confines to the roles that God gives us, which essentially makes men the overlords of women on earth.
The "bottom line?"
"We are convinced that scripture affirms male leadership in the home and that positions of leadership in the Church are restricted to men." A lot left out, but that is what he said.
So how may the Church prevail and wipe out feminism? Falwell mentioned that the Nazis, the Fascists, the Moslems, and all these groups started by indoctrinating children when very young. So we too, must save children, by following the same tactics. We should teach kids very young about what their roles are in the world. That way the ideas of the Christian Right are sure to prevail.
"We need to set role models and lift the standard, and I know, I'm gonna get thousands of hate letters," (camera cuts to a Black woman,) "but these are the teachings of God, not of me." He mentions that the Bible says we cannot take or add from the Bible, which makes me wonder how much he really knows about the Bible. The statment is from the book of Revelations, and the entire statement is that no man can add or take away from these prophecies. The common Christian concept that the statement refers to the whole Bible just shows ignorance of their own religion and its history. The statement in Revelations was written about 2000 years ago. The Bible was composed about 1700 years ago, and re-edited by the protestants about 500 years ago. Is that not a violation of the word of God? No, its not, but most Christians don't even know when and how the Bible was compiled, Falwell included.
Analysis
His stereotype of the feminist movement shows genuine ignorance of it. He maintains that the majority of feminists are dykes, sluts, and deranged women from failed relationships that turn to hating men as relief. Opposing subjugation is ignored, opposing unequal pay is touched upon and then insulted.
Falwell gets into the typical 'women are toys' concept, surprisingly enough, or perhpas not.
In Jerry's rambling about roles, he leaves out a great many doctrines from the Bible. My guess is when trying to say that they Bible teaches equality, it is best to leave out the parts of the Bible that oppose equality. When speaking of roles, Falwell neglects the doctrine so frequently repeated that a woman's job is to 'honor and obey' her husband, and the husband is to love her like Jesus loves the Church (which he did mention.) However, he did not go further on the role of males, which accepting that Jesus loves the Church a lot, Jesus is also the unquestionable master of the Church. He is to be followed to the 't.' He doesnt mention that the Bible sanctions a man divorcing a woman, a man remarrying after the death of a spouse, but denies these rights to women. Falwell stresses that the Bible teaches equality. After stressing this equality, he reminds us that the Man still is in charge at home (where the woman should stay) and at church, (the highest authority on earth.) This leaves man as ruler of women in all cases.
Speaking of equality, fags are equal, we just can't let them do the same things as us normals. I need go no further.
While wiping out feminism and indoctrinating our children like Nazis, he doesn't mention that the Bible teaches that the Bible sanctions execution of rebellious children (deut 21:18-21), but also that we should beat them with a club, because it will not kill them (prov 23:13.) Growing up in a Christian home, I automatically know what he is talking about when Jerry speaks of rearing children in the ways of the Lord. Child abuse is sanctioned by God.
Falwell also forgot that in the Tenth Commandment, women are listed as PROPERTY, and we are not allowed to cover them (ex 20:17.) Nor does it come to mind that women are commanded to be silent and be in submission to men (1 cor 14:34-5.)
Even worse, the Bible's portrayal of women as objects is more clearly shown in Deut. 22:28, where God tells us that if we decide to rape a girl, out punishment is that we have to marry her (sounds like an easy way to get with a girl who doesnt want it) and worse, we are not allowed to divorce her.
Or perhaps he should have mentioned that in Numbers 31 Moses commands his troops to go back to a conquered people, and kill everyone except for the virgins, whom they could keep to rape. Is that not the ultimate objectification of women? Turning them into sex slaves when they are conquered!
Jerry Falwell is a man that believes that the Bible should be turned into law on earth, in the United States. Are these the kind of codes you want to live by? If you are a virgin when Falwell is prez, you better hope we don't get conquered, becuase rape is then legit.

In times such as these, where the Religious Right is day by day moving this country towards a fundamentalist theocracy, a vibrant movement of resistance is needed.

The theocrats have state power and are slowly moving towards plunging the world into a Dark Age-style religious dictatorship, they are using the power of the state to destroy rights of all who are not like them; women, homosexuals, immigrants, and all non-Christians, or even Christians that don't support the same neo-fascist agenda that the Christian Right does.
We must become foot soldiers of the 'Cultural War.' Why? The government is trying to push the religious agenda as far as possible. That is why it is most necesarry at this point to begin propagating atheism to counteract the fascistic Christian law dreamed of by the Republicans.
I propose a nationally organized, propagandist organization to challenge the Christian Right as they move to deconstruct the law and literally replace it with the Bible.
We must create and distribute literature showing the truth about religion, mainly Christianity. Leaflets and pamphlets can be easily created and distributed. There is already much dispersed throughout the interntet, but there is no organization that is out there, actively promoting scientific understanding. We must gather people and information to spread. By doing this, especially on campuses, we can begin to disintergrate the social base of the Christian Fascists.
We must join forces with any and all groups that oppose the imposition of religion upon our private lives, and the use of religion to justify government policy. The enemy fo my enemy is my friend.
We need people most of all. Any atheist can be of use to the movement, and consequently, of use to the human race. People to write movie and book critiques, study the contradictions of each religion, principally Christianity, and show the fallacy of them. People with knowledge of science to debunk the myth of Creationism. People to distribute literature at schools and in all of society. People that follow the religous influence in the government and it's affects on our lives, and where the Christian Fascists (note: I don't call all Christians fascists, just those that wish to create a theocracy) want to take this country. Any and all atheists concerned about the future should join up with the movement and spread the truth.
We must defend even religious groups that fall under attack by others. When in any case, 'faith' is used to oppress another person, we must fight against it.
We need to formulate a list of demands. These will not be able to be voted into being, as both parties are 'faith-based.' What must be done is a social movement that will crumble the feet of the giant.
There are already a great number of excellent atheist groups throughout the country. I support all of these in the fight against theocracy. But what is lacking is outreach. This is what must be done. The atheist meetup groups (atheists.meetep.com) are a great place to start chapters throughout the country to begin the counter attack of the Cultural War. There are a number of atheist groups in every state, that publist newletters that are available online. People can be mobilized to get these out everywhere.
Ignoring the Christian Fascist threat could have unthinkable consequences.
